On September 27th, 1963, a group of interested people met at Tift’s Pour House for the purpose of organizing a conservation club. Joe Wessels was appointed acting chairman and Helen Singleton as secretary.

It was moved that we call the club “The Newaygo County Sportsman’s Club”.

On October 26th, 1963, at Tift’s Pour House 8:00 PM the newly formed club met for the first time.

Joe Wessels called the meeting to order and that is when the Conservation Pledge was repeated.
Jack Jones became President.
Joe Wessels became Vice-President
Helen became Secretary
Doug Brant and Esther Wessels became Treasurer

Later that year in November , our first event was approved called the “Hunters Ball” with door prizes and the tickets were only $1.00.

Today we still hold true to our “Membership Club” and focus on Conservation, DNR, Law Enforcement, Hunting and Fishing. We also teach a CPL class and currently working on Hunter’s Safety once again.

We offer many fun events for our members like:
Line Dancing
Pool
Euchre
Karaoke
Shooting Range
Horse-Shoes
and sometimes Saturday’s Entertainment
